After her father got a Job as an engineer for an American company, they moved into a suburban area of Los Angeles, called, Whittier for two years.
Before even arriving in America, the family had such high expectations due to Firoozeh’s father. Once in Whittier, her family only has two years to stay in America because her job has a engineering job at an American Company for two years. After being there for a while, it is decided that Firoozeh’s mother, Nazireh should attend her first couple of days of school with her. As any child would be, Firoozeh is unsettled and embarrassed. In the fourth chapter of this book, “Save me Mickey”, the families’ strange and rather religious obsession over Disneyland is revealed. Kazem has a deep admiration for Walt Disney, and his works. All was a little matter because Firoozeh went to U.C. Berkeley where she met her future husband, a French man by the Name of Francois
The story ends when we find out, that Firoozeh and Francois are planning to get married. Their planning getting married, upset both parents at first, especially Kazem, and Nazireh because they were hoping she would marry and Iranian Doctor, however they know that would not happen since she was dating already. Francois’s parent had decided to attend the wedding, but his other family did not. After all of the festivities her brother Farshid, gives the two a trip to the Bahamas for free.
